Hardieplank Siding, The Most Durable Siding Option For The NW
This NE Portland craftsman home needed to replace the original cedar siding that was on the home. They worked with our Project Consultant on choosing a product that would stand the test of time yet maintain the craftsman aesthetic that they loved. Our client decided on Hardieplank lap siding, with a smooth texture and a 5 inch reveal. This emulated the 1/2" cedar lap that was originally on the home maintaining the craftsman aesthetic they were after while upgrading the durability of their siding by switching to Hardieplank a cement based siding that doesn't have many of the problems of wood based siding in the NW harsh climate. The Best Roofing Shingles
We consider GAF Replacement Roofing to be the finest architectural asphalt shingle available today. GAF's proprietary manufacturing process eliminated inert ingredients such as lime from their shingles and added additional layers of granules on top of the shingles. This is important because it is the granule layer that protects the shingle from UV exposure and the elements so the more granules you have the longer your shingle lasts.
Proper Roofing Ventilation
GAF is also adamant about proper roof ventilation on the roofing systems that we install. This is incredibly important on an older home as they don't typically have intake vents built into the eaves like newer homes (think bird blocks on your newer home with 3 holes drilled into the barge board with screens). On older homes such as this NE Portland craftsman we build the intake into the roof using an intake vent such as the Airvent EdgeVent System. GAF provides calculations to us for the amount of intake and exhaust ventilation that we must build into each roof to achieve their 50 year non pro-rated warranty. Other manufactures pro rate their warranty coverage down after 10 years leaving you with little to no warranty by year 20. GAF proudly offers a non pro-rated 50 year warranty that covers both labor and materials should their products fail after being properly installed.
